The Guidelines were adopted in the form of a Communication and will apply to all notified aid measures on which the Commission will decide after 1 July 2014, even where the funding projects were notified earlier. The Communication was accompanied by a Press Release and a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). The Guidelines replace the Commission's 2008 Guidelines on State aid for environmental protection, and now include detailed rules regarding State aid in the energy sector.
