Book excerpt: Following the destruction of their planet, two powerful forces arrive on Earth. Romman awakens in a hospital bed, haunted by the ghosts of his dead family. He remembers his grandfathers command to hold his shield and keep his oath, and that doing so would mean he would never be alone. Comfort turns to terror, though, as Romman realizes his shield has disappeared, lost as he fled his dying world. Its loss will be humanitys undoing, as Krinos, another one of Rommans race, has also arrived on Earth. Once friend to Romman, he searches for the missing shield as well. But the psychological ordeal of fleeing his destroyed planet has darkened the mind of Krinos, as he forgoes peace and instead strives to rule Earth with the power of evil. At the center of this struggle is the Prism Buildingthe earthly gateway to Asgaurd, home of the Norse gods. Under the watchful eye of the gods, a battle will be waged between Romman and Krinos. The peaceful Romman will learn that where humans appear to be unwanted interference, they are in fact masters of their domain and helpful souls, willing to fight for their world.
