Book excerpt: Excerpt from Biennial Report of the Director, National Institutes of Health, Vol. 2 Section 406(g) of the Health Research Extension Act of 1985 states that Each advisory council may prepare, for inclusion in the biennial report made under section 407, (1) comments respecting the activities of the advisory council in the fiscal years respecting which the report is prepared, (2) comments on the progress of the national research institute for which it was established in meeting its objectives, and (3) recommendations respecting the future directions and program and policy emphasis of the institute. This volume is comprised of such biennial reports of the National Advisory Councils and Boards, including estimates of future needs and recommendations for future directions. As required by the act, the views expressed in the documents contained in this volume are solely those of the members of the advisory councils and boards and do not necessarily reflect the positions or judgments of the nih, the Department, or the Administration.
