As a star player with the Edmonton Oilers, Messier had two 100-point scoring seasons and -- along with Wayne Gretzky -- led the team to four Stanley Cup victories. After Gretzky left the Oilers to join the Los Angeles Kings, Messier stepped up to captain the Oilers to their fifth Cup victory.
