In 1993, he was appointed as the Director of Motor Sport for Peugeot, where he led the team to win two World Rally Championships. Todt joined the FIA in 2003, serving as the CEO and President of the organization until 2021. During his tenure, he introduced several initiatives aimed at making motorsports safer and more sustainable. He also played a key role in expanding the reach of the FIA, with the organization now recognized as the governing body for motorsports worldwide. Besides his contribution to the automotive industry, Todt is also involved in various social causes, including road safety and environmental conservation.
