Book excerpt: This report documents the proceedings from the 4th Integrated Transportation Management Systems (ITMS) Conference, ITMS: A Key Strategy to Optimize Surface Transportation System Performance, held in Newark, New Jersey on July 15-18, 2001. The purpose of the conference was to identify potential initiatives and opportunities to help advance the state-of-the-art in planning, designing, deploying, operating, and evaluating ITMS.
