Book excerpt: Our world continues to change rapidly because of globalization and internationalism thus has become more multicultural and diverse that strong and effective leadership was needed in the workforce. The real estate industry has changed as well and continues to change because of multiculturalism. The effects of COVID-19 placed burdensome restrictions and regulations both from the state and city levels that firms must follow in order to function internally and externally to market properties. The effects of COVID-19 will forever change the way business is done as usual, where the general business practice must include a constant of new critical change initiatives to dissolve the status quo. The underpinnings of this qualitative flexible single case study addressed one pertinent specific problem: the failure of leaders within the real estate industry in the northeastern United States to engage employee support regarding new critical change initiatives resulting in poor organizational performance.
