Book excerpt: I wrote most of this book at 9 years old over my summer break, writing down whatever ideas sprung from my imagination. This resulted in a boy named Stick Bob navigating this bizarro stick figure world which is full of as many potentially wondrous experiences as there are dangerous ones. The structure was a journey of a kid who wants to find direction in pursuing his lost parents, but life’s journey is a winding road and much less straightforward than he could ever imagine. The people he will come across will give him all sorts of different experiences that are probably more than he bargained for, but he’ll have to navigate all the same. This story is a rough, chaotic, goofy snapshot of my childhood imagination. My writing was fueled by seeing how far I could take the types of stories I had fun writing in my free time as a kid, where I would just have an inspiration from these ongoing fantastical narratives in other books and comics I was reading in my school’s library. Publishing this after so long feels like a chapter of my own life completing. I hope to have fun writing even more stories in the future.
